Patient-centered treatment for hospitalized patients

Hospitalist Care at Beverly Hospital

When you're admitted to Beverly Hospital, hospitalists will direct your care during your stay. These dedicated providers may be doctors, physician assistants or nurse practitioners. They specialize in treating hospitalized patients and have expert knowledge regarding the conditions of hospitalized patients and the care they require. Intensivists who oversee patients in our critical care unit are hospitalists who focus on caring for our most seriously ill or injured patients.

The Benefits of Hospitalist Care

Hospitalists at Beverly Hospital are on-site around the clock. They see you soon after admission and plan your care. Then they follow you closely throughout your stay and coordinate your care with other specialists. When you're ready to leave the hospital, they'll help you plan for discharge.

There are many benefits to being cared for by a hospitalist. These providers are:

  • Able to quickly adjust your treatment plan based on your latest test results
  • Always in the hospital, ready to respond if you face an emergency
  • Readily available to answer questions that you or your loved ones may have

Hospitalists are one way we work to ensure you receive excellent care.

Your Primary Care Provider's Role

Your primary care doctor may choose to see you while you're in the hospital, but when you're under a hospitalist's care, your own doctor isn't required to make a visit. We'll communicate your treatment plan with your primary care team and keep them up to date. When you're ready for discharge, we'll send your doctor a summary of your stay, your test results and our recommended plan for follow-up.
