Pediatrics

Hearing testing and assistance is available for children through our audiology department. We are recognized as a Level II Designated Newborn Diagnostic Hearing Center by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH). This means we’re able to perform specialized diagnostic tests onsite if we suspect your baby has hearing loss. We’re also able to quickly and efficiently connect you to needed resources. Fewer than 20 hospitals in the state have this designation from MDPH.

We have pediatric and family medicine practices located throughout the North Shore. At each location, physicians and nurse practitioners care for children from birth through adolescence. They team up with you to support your child’s healthy growth and development and are your go-to source for their medical needs. If your child needs specialty care, they’ll find the right expert and follow them closely to ensure their needs are met.

• Well-child visits

We offer an ultrasound clinic especially for children as part of our radiology and imaging service. The clinic is held two days each week at Beth Israel Lahey Health Care Center–Danvers and requires a doctor’s referral. The clinic specializes in head, hip, abdominal pyloric stenosis and spine imaging. The imaging also helps us identify:

• Appendicitis
• Genitourinary conditions
• Kidney issues
• Soft tissue masses in the arms, legs, neck and chest
• Testicular and ovarian problems

Our imaging team knows how to put your child at ease and help the process go smoothly.

If a medical emergency arises, we’ll give your child expert care through our emergency department (ED). Pediatricians from Boston Children’s Hospital staff our ED. They specialize in treating kids and their medical needs. You can feel confident knowing that your children are in good hands at Beverly Hospital.

Our 11-bed pediatric inpatient unit was specially designed for you and your child. When a child is sick, there’s no substitute for having a parent nearby. So, our patient rooms have plenty of space for moms and dads. We provide the best medical care for your child and go out of our way to accommodate your family’s needs. We want your child’s stay to be as easy as possible for everyone.

Pediatric hospitalists will direct your child’s care during their stay. They’re onsite 24/7 and help your child get the most appropriate care. Our hospitalists work closely with Boston Children’s Hospital specialists who also have office hours onsite. They bring expertise in many areas, including heart care, digestive care and general surgery. Our team also includes specialists in pediatric orthopedic surgery, neurology and lung and respiratory care.

Therapists who specialize in physical, occupational and speech therapy provide services to children through our rehabilitation department. These caring experts play a crucial role in helping your child recover from a serious illness or injury. Their goal is to help your child feel and function their best.
