Quality & Safety
We are committed to delivering safe, high-quality patient care
About Our Quality of Care
To help our patients and their families make informed decisions about their healthcare, we are providing links to the various quality and safety reporting tools currently available online. We believe it is important to provide transparency into our performance data to help us improve our quality of care.
We are currently working on publishing our data in a more timely manner to make the relevant information easier to access in the near future.
Care Compare
This tool provides you with information on how well the hospitals in your area care for all their adult patients with certain medical conditions. This information helps you compare the quality of care at different hospitals. Care Compare was created through the efforts of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and organizations that represent hospitals, doctors, employers, accrediting organizations, Federal agencies and the public.
Quality Check
The Quality Report provides detailed information about:
- an organization’s performance compared to similar organizations
- the organization’s accreditation decision and the effective dates of the accreditation award
- programs accredited by The Joint Commission and programs or services accredited by other accrediting bodies
- compliance with The Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals
- special quality awards
- for hospitals, performance on National Quality Improvement Goals

HealthGrades
HealthGrades provides a variety of reports that help patients select the right healthcare providers. HealthGrades’ Doctor Quality Reports include information on board certification, education, training and disciplinary actions. HealthGrades also offers Hospital Reports, which include information on top hospitals as well as hospital ratings by surgery type. Lastly, patients can use Nursing Home Reports to access information on ratings, complaints and problems.
Massachusetts Health Quality Partners
Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP) provides reliable information to help physicians improve the quality of care they offer their patients, helping them make informed decisions about their health. MHQP is a broad-based coalition of physicians, hospitals, health plans, purchasers, consumers, academics and government agencies working together to promote healthcare quality improvement across Massachusetts.
The Leapfrog Group
Nearly 3,000 hospitals voluntarily submit information on their quality and safety measures to The Leapfrog Group. Leapfrog’s interactive tool allows patients to compare a single hospital’s progress when putting Leapfrog-recommended quality and safety methods into practice.
ICU Staffing Ratios
As part of our effort to continue offering the best possible patient and family centered experience, Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals are committed to providing our quarterly ICU staffing ratios to patients, colleagues and regulatory agencies. This ratio indicates the average number of patients our ICU nurses care for during a given work day.
