Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care at Beverly Hospital

Our Alzheimer’s & Dementia Services
Beverly Hospital offers a variety of services to improve the quality of life for those with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. We also provide guidance and support for caregivers.
Our services include:
- The Center for Healthy Aging, devoted to caring for the health needs of North Shore seniors with age-related health issues. The Center is located at Beth Israel Lahey Health Care Center–Danvers and at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester.
- Northeast Senior Health's Spectrum Adult Day Health Program, recognized by the Alzheimer's Association of Massachusetts. This program provides specialized daytime care for adults with Alzheimer's disease or dementia.

The Spectrum Adult Day Health Program provides a supportive environment for people with Alzheimer's disease and related memory disorders.
This is the only day program certified by the Alzheimer's Association of Eastern Massachusetts. Spectrum's sensitive, caring, staff are specially trained to care for individuals with memory disorders. This cost-effective option for caregivers can help those with memory loss to maintain independence and remain in their own homes. Spectrum also gives families well-deserved peace of mind that their loved ones are in a safe and uplifting environment.
Spectrum provides individualized programs for participants of different ability levels and focuses on patients’ strengths and interests. Ongoing assessments make sure that an appropriate plan is in place to meet each patient’s needs. An enhanced care option is available for those with more intensive care needs.
The Spectrum Center is a secure environment designed to accommodate the cognitive (thinking) changes individuals experiencing face as their disease progresses. Participants enjoy socialization in a warm, supportive environment. We offer failure-free activities that match the skill level of each person. These enhance each person's dignity and self-esteem. We also offer outings and seasonal celebrations regularly.
Spectrum offers a one-to-four staff-to-client ratio. The professional staff includes:

- Certified nurse assistants

- Primary care physicians
- Social workers
We understand how challenging it is to care for someone with memory loss. That’s why we offer education, counseling and support groups to assist families and friends in their caregiving roles. We offer extended hours to serve the needs of families.

Most Spectrum clients pay out-of-pocket. Third-party payment for eligible individuals is available through:

- Greater Lynn Senior Services
- MassHealth
- Mystic Valley Elder Services
- North Shore Elder Services
- SeniorCare
In addition, some long-term care insurance plans may cover the cost of the program. Check your policy for eligibility.
