Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals Earn an 'A' Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group
Beverly Hospital is One of Only 20 Hospitals Nationwide to Receive 'A' Grade in Every Leapfrog Cycle
Beverly and Gloucester, Mass. – Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals each earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
Beverly Hospital has received an “A” distinction 24 times in a row, one of only 20 hospitals in the country to be awarded an “A” in every Hospital Safety Grade cycle since 2012.
“We are honored that both Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals have been recognized for our commitment to safety by The Leapfrog Group,” said Tom Sands, President of Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals. “In particular, earning a 24th “A” grade in a row at Beverly speaks to our priorities as a team, and an undeniable commitment to making a difference for the communities and patients we serve.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.
