Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals earned ‘A’ grades from The Leapfrog Group

April 29, 2021

Beverly, MA – Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals have each earned an “A” grade for their continued commitment to patient safety in the Spring 2021 Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. The ratings signify how well hospitals protect patients from preventable harm, including medical errors, injuries and infections within the hospital. This is the nineteenth year in a row that Beverly Hospital has received the honor, and the seventeenth time that Addison Gilbert Hospital has received this honor.

“All of us at Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals are deeply honored to be recognized by The Leapfrog Group for maintaining the highest standards for patient safety,” said Tom Sands, President of Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals. “Over the years, our clinicians and staff have demonstrated a deep commitment to provide remarkable care to our patients in a safe environment.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are determined with the guidance of an expert panel using 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data. Grades of A, B, C, D and F are assigned to more than 2,700 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

“An ‘A’ safety grade is an elite designation that your community should be proud of,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “The past year has been extraordinarily difficult for hospitals, but Beverly Hospital shows us it is possible to keep a laser focus on patients and their safety, no matter what it takes.”
