Discover Program Returns to Addison Gilbert Hospital
Intensive Outpatient Program Will Provide Vital Behavioral Health, Substance Use Treatment On Cape Ann
Gloucester, MA – The Discover Program, an intensive outpatient program on Cape Ann serving individuals with behavioral health and substance use disorders, has returned to Addison Gilbert Hospital.
Addison Gilbert Hospital, part of Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), has partnered with BILH Behavioral Services to resume the highly regarded adult day treatment program following its pause during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program, based at Addison Gilbert Hospital, began seeing clients with co-occurring behavioral health and substance use diagnoses on Nov. 18.
Discover offers an intermediate level of step-down care for individuals who do not require a traditional inpatient hospital stay, but who need intensive clinical intervention, at a level higher than provided in a traditional program.
Discover will focus on teaching the skills for recovery through primarily group-based therapy. It will operate Monday through Thursday, 3:00 to 6:00 pm, with clients accepted on a rolling basis through both clinician- and self-referral avenues.
“Addison Gilbert Hospital and Beth Israel Lahey Health have a long history of recognizing the critical importance of providing vital mental health and substance use services in the community,” said Tom Sands, market president – North Shore for Beth Israel Lahey Health and president of Beverly, Addison Gilbert and BayRidge Hospitals. “The return of the Discover program fills an important gap in the continuum of care on Cape Ann and beyond to assist individuals in successfully navigating through their mental health and substance use journeys.”
Addison Gilbert Hospital will support the administrative operation of the program, with BILH Behavioral Services providing professional clinical expertise to serve clients close to home.
“We are committed to finding ways to leverage Beth Israel Lahey Health’s extraordinary clinical expertise for programs like Discover within our communities,” said Jennifer Cullen, MSW, president of BILH Behavioral Services. “By treating co-occurring diagnoses through a whole-person approach, the Discover program will serve to support clients on Cape Ann and the surrounding region in building a solid foundation for recovery.”
