Our Approach
Many Americans suffer from chronic, non-healing wounds. Some wounds are associated with complications from diabetes, vascular disorders, pressure sores or traumatic wounds. The types of wounds treated include pressure, diabetic, neuropathic and ischemic ulcers; venous insufficiency; traumatic and surgical wounds; vasculitis; burns; late effects of radiation; and Peristomal skin irritations. The Center utilizes the most up-to-date approaches to wound healing such as advanced wound dressing, bioengineered skin replacement and, in some situations, hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Our Staff
The professional staff of the Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine Center at the Cummings Center is trained to provide a specialized, comprehensive course of therapy to assist in healing problem wounds. The staff works with your doctor to assure complete continuity of all your medical services. When you are a patient at the Center, you are always seen by a physician.
The Center's staff who will be working closely with your primary care provider are members of a team of professionals that includes:
- Board-certified physicians with advanced training in wound management
- Certified nurse specialists with advanced wound training
- Hyperbaric technicians who perform non-invasive studies and various therapies
- Experienced staff to assist with appointments, medical records and health insurance processing

Beverly Hospital's Wound and Hyperbaric Medicine Center has been named as a Center of Distinction by Diversified Clinical Services (DCS), the wound care management company with whom we partner to provide exceptional patient care. This award recognizes the Center's success in meeting or exceeding DCS's company benchmarks for 12 consecutive months in healing outcomes, patient satisfaction, outlier management and days to heal. In fact, the benchmark for wounds healed is 79.5 percent and we achieved 97 percent; the benchmark for days to heal is 47.4 days and we achieved 31 days; and the benchmark for patient satisfaction is 91 percent and we achieved 97 percent. DCS partners with approximately 300 wound care centers across the country, and ours is one of only ten centers to achieve this distinction.
