Our Services

Services at the Vein Program

Beverly Hospital’s Vein Clinic offers a variety of minimally invasive services to treat all types of leg veins, from spider veins to severely bulging leg veins. Our team is friendly, respectful, and committed to superior patient care.

We utilize leading-edge techniques that have largely replaced older vein-stripping treatments. These newer leg vein techniques offer a number of advantages:

  • You can drive yourself to and from your procedure.
  • You can have a quick return to work and your normal activities.
  • There is little or no discomfort.
  • All procedures are performed at Beverly Hospital for convenient access to a full range of medical services.

Diagnosis and Treatment

Your visit starts with a consultation with a physician, who is a board-certified and fellowship-trained radiologist. They see patients on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday rom 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Among the innovative diagnostic tools at the Vein Clinic is Diagnostic Venous Reflux Ultrasound, a noninvasive radiology test to identify venous insufficiency and assess the size of the affected veins.

Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)

Endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure that uses laser energy to close a damaged vein and reroute blood flow to healthy veins. It is performed with medical lasers that deliver light energy to the vein with extreme precision.

The EVLT procedure uses only a local numbing medicine in the area that is being treated. It generally takes less than an hour to perform and involves minimal discomfort, no scarring, a quick recovery, and immediate return to your normal activities.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a procedure that uses an injected solution (usually a salt solution) to close up small surface veins (such as spider veins), which are then reabsorbed by the body.

The procedure generally takes under a half hour. The solution is injected into the veins through a very thin needle. You can walk immediately after treatment but may need to avoid strenuous activity for a couple of days afterwards.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy

Ambulatory phlebectomy is a procedure to remove large varicose veins through tiny, non-scarring incisions. A local anesthetic is used to numb the area being treated. The procedure is called “ambulatory” because you can walk immediately afterwards and in most cases can resume your normal activities immediately.
