The goal of the Hospice Suite is to achieve the best quality of
life for patients and their families by providing care that affirms
life and regards dying as a natural process.
The Hospice Suite at Addison Gilbert Hospital provides
supportive and palliative care for patients in the last phases of
incurable disease, so that they may live as fully and comfortably
as possible. Palliative care neither hastens nor prolongs death. It
provides relief of pain and other distressing symptoms. It
integrates the psychological and spiritual aspects of care and
offers a support system to help families cope during their loved
one's illness.
The Hospice Suite at Addison Gilbert Hospital is located on
Steele I. The Suite includes two private one-bed patient rooms with
accommodations in each where family members can sleep. There is
also a family room with kitchen and sitting area. If more than two
hospice patients are admitted, accommodations are made in
medical-surgical private rooms for additional hospice
patients.
Initiate a Hospice Consult
Nurses or physicians may initiate a hospice referral. One of our
hospice affiliates will contact the primary physician to discuss a
plan for care and comfort, and to verify hospice coverage by the
patient's insurance carrier.
