Lung (Pulmonary)

Overview

Pulmonology is the medical specialty that focuses on the lungs. There are a wide variety of conditions that can affect the lungs, including benign diseases, cancer, and respiratory issues. At Beverly Hospital, Addison Gilbert Hospital and Beverly Hospital at Danvers, you will find the specialty care required to diagnose, treat and manage the broad spectrum of lung diseases.

For example:

• Beverly Hospital's Thoracic (chest) Surgery Program provides a leading-edge, multidisciplinary thoracic oncology program involving medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgery. Services include non-surgical treatments and minimally invasive surgical techniques. Through the Thoracic Oncology Program, thoracic surgeons from Beverly Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center consult with one another, further enhancing diagnostic and treatment services for North Shore residents.

• Physicians who are board certified in the lung-related specialties of pulmonology and critical care medicine oversee patient care in our inpatient intensive care units through our Intensivist Program.

• The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is available to anyone who has chronic lung disease, asthma, emphysema or has undergone lung surgery.
