Beverly, MA (October 15, 2015) - Beverly
Hospital's Infectious Disease Physician Steven P. LaRosa, MD, has
been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence
in clinical infectious disease, and research into the treatment of
patients with severe sepsis.
Dr. LaRosa provides inpatient and outpatient infectious disease
consultation at Beverly Hospital and Addison Gilbert Hospital. He
has a particular interest and expertise in the management of
osteomyelitis, endocarditis, fever of unknown origin (FUO), skin
and soft tissue infections, MRSA infections and tick-borne illness.
Dr. LaRosa also is the Medical Director of Animicrobial Stewardship
at Beverly Hospital and also is on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics
Committee and CME Committee.
Dr. LaRosa is recognized as a national and international leader
in the design of clinical research trials of experimental devices
and experimental drugs for the treatment of sepsis and severe
infections. Dr. LaRosa has participated in clinical end point
committees, data safety monitoring boards, steering committees and
advisory boards for numerous companies. He has written and
published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in medical
literature.
Dr. LaRosa received an MD from Boston University School of
Medicine in 1992. He was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical
Honor Society as a student. Subsequently, he completed an Internal
Medicine Residency including a year as Chief Medical Resident at
the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He completed his Infectious
Disease Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is Board
Certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease.
Prior to joining the medical staff at Beverly Hospital, Dr.
LaRosa held academic and clinical appointments at large tertiary
centers and medical schools. He has held Staff Physician
appointments at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Rhode Island
Hospital (Brown Medical School) and Scott &White Hospital
(Texas A&M Medical School). While at Brown he received the
medical school teaching award and the Brown Medical School
Infectious Disease Fellowship Teaching Award. He has been
recognized as one of the Top Doctors in Infectious Disease by
Castle Connolly previously in 2011 and 2013.
Dr. LaRosa considers himself a clinician first and foremost. He
enjoys the challenge of being able to work through complex medical
situations, make a diagnosis and return the patient back to health.
He plans on continuing his practice for many years on the north
shore of Massachusetts close to where he was brought up. He also
plans to continue in active roles as a clinical researcher in
severe infections. He wants people from the north shore of
