Lahey Outpatient Center, Danvers Recognized by National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
Breast Health Center Receives Full Accreditation from NAPBC
DANVERS, MASS. - Beverly Hospital is proud to
announce that Lahey Outpatient Center, Danvers' (LOCD) Breast
Health Center, located at 480 Maple Street in Danvers, has been
granted a full accreditation designation by the National
Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program
administered by the American College of Surgeons.
"Breast cancer affects more than 200,000 women every year and
accounts for nearly one out of every three cancer diagnoses in the
United States," said Denielle Palm, Manager, Lahey Outpatient
Center, Danvers Breast Health Center. We pride ourselves on
offering a comprehensive continuum of care for our patients in a
compassionate, community setting," "We are honored to be accredited
by NAPBC, as it validates the commitment we've made to develop
multidisciplinary and comprehensive programs that support the daily
lives of the people living in our community."
LOCD's Breast Health Center offers the latest technology and
diagnostic techniques for breast care, including risk assessments,
genetic counseling, personalized education and support, advanced
treatment options, access to clinical trials and physical therapy.
The LOCD Breast Health Center team includes board-certified medical
oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, breast surgeons,
pathologists, genetic counselors, and physical therapists.
This group provides comprehensive breast health services on the
North Shore, and together provides holistic care that meets the
physical and emotional needs of women facing breast cancer.
"The Breast Health Center provides critical access to
state-of-the-art cancer care and treatments for patients on the
North Shore," said Rebecca Yang, MD, Medical Director, Lahey
Outpatient Center, Danvers' Breast Health Center. "NAPBC
accreditation is further proof that we are meeting the growing
demand for a wide variety of breast care services, and identifying
new and innovative ways to provide the best care to our patients in
convenient settings close to their homes and families."
Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that
have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality
breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and
review of their performance. During the survey process, the
center must demonstrate compliance with standards established by
the NAPBC for treating women who are diagnosed with the full
spectrum of breast disease. The standards include proficiency
in the areas of: center leadership, clinical management, research,
community outreach, professional education, and quality
improvement. A breast center that achieves NAPBC
accreditation has demonstrated a firm commitment to offer its
patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast
disease.
The NAPBC is a consortium of professional organizations
dedicated to the improvement of the quality of care and monitoring
of outcomes of patients with diseases of the breast. This
mission is pursued through standard-setting, scientific validation,
and patient and professional education. Its board membership
includes professionals from 20 national organizations that reflect
the full spectrum of breast care.
Receiving care at a NAPBC-accredited center ensures that a
patient will have access to:
- Comprehensive care, including a full range of state-of-the-art
services
- A multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best
treatment options
- Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment
options
- And, most importantly, quality breast care close to home
