Northeast Health System Holds Annual Meeting
Health system, donors and community members discuss successes of past year and those to come in 2010
(Beverly, Mass.) - January 20, 2010 - On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, Northeast Health System (NHS) leadership, donors and North Shore community members met at the Danversport Yacht Club for the organization's annual meeting. This event provided an opportunity to discuss and showcase the numerous achievements of the healthcare system--which includes Beverly, Addison Gilbert and BayRidge hospitals as well as the Beverly Hospital at Danvers Medical and Day Surgery Center and Health & Education Services, Inc., CAB Health & Recovery, Inc., Northeast Senior Health and Northeast Health Foundation--in the past year and what to expect in 2010.
After a cocktail hour and dinner, speakers including David St. Laurent, chairman of the NHS Board of Trustees; Nancy Palmer, chairwoman of the NHC Board of Trustees; Ken Hanover, president and CEO of NHS; and Jonathan Schreiber, M.D., president of the NHS medical staff addressed more than 300 attendees. In addition, the evening included a video depicting the story of the many talented nurses that provide excellent care to the patients of NHS and bring to their work unparalleled compassion and kindness.
"It was important to convey to the community the many achievements of our organization at this year's annual meeting as we are ultimately responsible to them," said Ken Hanover, president and CEO of NHS. "We've made great strides in continuing to improve the accessibility and capabilities of the high-quality care that we offer to the North Shore, and we plan to continue that forward progression into 2010."
Some of the noted achievements included the completion of the Gorton's Specialty and Cancer Care Center at Addison Gilbert Hospital; Beverly and BayRidge hospitals joining Addison Gilbert Hospital as NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders) designated sites; Addison Gilbert, Beverly and BayRidge hospital's successful implementation of Provider Order Management; and the Emergency Department nurses at Addison Gilbert and Beverly hospitals being named the Best Nursing Team in New England by the publication ADVANCE for Nurses.
Many elected officials attended Tuesday's presentation including Beverly Mayor William Scanlon, Representative Mary Grant, Representative Ted Speliotis, Danvers Town Administrator Wayne Marquis and Beverly City Councilors, Kevin Hoben and Jim Latter.
