Jeffrey B. Newton M.D. honored by the Massachusetts Thoracic Society
Beverly, Mass. – April 7, 2009 – Beverly Hospital announced today that Jeffrey B. Newton, M.D., of Essex Pulmonary Associates, PC in Peabody, MA, received the 2009 Outstanding Clinician Award from the Massachusetts Thoracic Society. The Outstanding Clinician Award honors excellence in clinical care in Pulmonary Medicine. Dr. Newton was selected by his peers and is viewed by patients, families and colleagues as an outstanding clinician.
Dr. Newton has practiced Pulmonary Medicine on the North Shore for 32 years and has been affiliated with Beverly Hospital for 19 years. In addition to receiving the regional Outstanding Clinician Award, Dr. Newton came in second for the national award from the American Thoracic Society. The Outstanding Clinician Award allows the Massachusetts Thoracic Society to recognize practitioners primarily for their unfailing dedication to patients, and also for their unwavering service to their communities.
“I am honored to receive the 2009 Outstanding Clinician Award from the Massachusetts Thoracic Society,” said Dr. Newton. “There are many worthy candidates for this recognition, many of whom I’ve been fortunate to work with over the past 32 years, so I am truly humbled to be recognized in this way.”
The Massachusetts Thoracic Society honored Dr. Newton at their 64th Annual Meeting on April 1, 2009 at the Marriott Hotel in Newton, MA. During the presentation of the awards, Dr. John Beamis of Lahey Clinic Medical Center awarded Dr. Newton the 2009 Outstanding Clinician Award.
Dr. Newton is a graduate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University. He completed his residency and internship at Beth Israel Hospital (now Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center) and fellowships in Pulmonary Medicine from Tufts New England Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Newton resides in Lynnfield with his wife Myra. Dr. Newton also has two children and a grandson.
The Massachusetts Thoracic Society acts as a scientific organization for healthcare professionals interested in respiratory disease. The Society promotes the study, prevention, understanding, and management of respiratory disease through educational programs, support of scientific research, and other appropriate activities. The Society acts in a medical advisory capacity to the American Lung Association of Massachusetts.
