Beverly Hospital at Danvers Holds Women's HealthConnection
Nearly 200 women from across the North Shore participated in the inaugural Women’s HealthConnection held on May 2, 2009 at Beverly Hospital at Danvers, Medical and Day Surgery Center. The event was an opportunity for women to get the latest healthcare information from our skilled team of physicians, nurses and therapists. Attendees found everything they needed to be health-savvy, including free health screenings, tips on disease prevention, and lectures on various health topics of particular concern to women.
Free health risk assessments at the event included evaluations for breast cancer, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis and thyroid disease. Screenings assessed body mass index, bone density, blood pressure and blood glucose as well as occupational therapy and foot screenings. Additionally, there were free lectures and discussions regarding women and heart disease; female urology and incontinence; menopause; Lyme disease; decoding food labels and ways to add fiber to your diet; cosmetic and reconstructive surgery and lymphedema.
Attendees had an opportunity to participate in free Reiki demonstrations, view the latest in medical imaging including the Aurora Breast MRI, and tour the Beverly Hospital at Danvers health centers, such as the Breast Health Center, Cardiovascular Center, Lifestyle Management Institute, Center for Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, and the Day Surgery Center. Additionally, attendees toured and met the staff at Essex County OB/GYN Associates and North Shore Pediatrics, physician practices all conveniently located within Beverly Hospital at Danvers.
