PROCTER & GAMBLE RECOGNIZES BEVERLY HOSPITAL NURSE AND ENDOSCOPY TECHNOLOGIST FOR EXCELLENCE IN GASTROENTEROLOGY FIELD
Beverly Residents Awarded Nurse and Associate of the Year
(Beverly, MA) - Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (P&G) recently announced Beverly Hospital nurse Helen Bernardino, RN, as a recipient of the company’s Gastrointestinal Nurse of the Year award. In addition, Seth Kelley, an endoscopy technologist at Beverly Hospital, was named as the Gastroenterology Associate of the Year.
Each year, P&G honors nurses from around the country who demonstrate extraordinary clinical competence and patient care practices. The Associate of the Year Award is a new addition to the honors this year, giving the opportunity for P&G to recognize additional endoscopy professionals for excellence in their field.
Bernardino, a Beverly resident, was nominated by her co-workers for the Nurse of the Year Award. Described as a great role model, she is considered a mentor and a resource to her peers, always encouraging others to grow in their field while demonstrating the utmost professionalism and dedication to her patients. In recognition of the honor, a representative from P&G presented Bernardino with a commemorative plaque. In addition, it was announced that she is now eligible for the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, Inc.’s (SGNA) new national “Proud to be GI” award, which will be presented at the SGNA’s 35th Annual Conference in May.
“I am honored, this is a very touching experience for me,” said Bernardino when presented with the award. “All of my coworkers are so supportive and it really makes for a great atmosphere. Any one of the nurses here deserves to receive this award.”
Seth Kelley, also a Beverly resident, was nominated by his peers for the Associate of the Year Award because of his continually positive attitude, commitment to teamwork and excellence in patient care. He has been an employee of Beverly Hospital’s Endoscopy Suite for just over a year and is currently working toward his nursing degree.
“I’m definitely surprised,” said Kelley at the award ceremony. “Everyone here is so good at what they do and I learn from them every day; it’s an honor to work with such an exceptional team.”
