Beverly Hospital Announces Partnership with North Shore Music Theatre Two Local Non-Profits Join to Promote the Well Being of the North Shore’s Seniors and Youth
(Beverly, MA) - Beverly Hospital recently announced a revolutionary partnership with North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT). The two non-profit entities have joined for a common purpose, to advocate for and promote the well being of the community’s seniors and youth through innovative
theater arts education.
As a result of the partnership, NSMT is able to expand its popular inter-generational music theater project, The Horizons Program, which unites local seniors and elementary students for a unique musical theater experience. Beverly Hospital will work with one of its assisted living facilities, Heritage at Danvers, and the Ivan G. Smith Elementary school in Danvers on this musical program. Under the direction of NSMT education staff, the seniors and students will rehearse together to create a musical theater revue for public performance. Introduced in 2006, The Horizons Program has made a lasting impression on hundreds of local seniors and students.
"Beverly Hospital’s commitment not only benefits the theater, but it also has a tremendous impact on the entire community," said Kate Barrand, chief marketing and development officer for North Shore Music Theatre. "With the support of Beverly Hospital we are developing a new type of relationship on the North Shore that leverages the strengths of two non-profit organizations. By working together, North Shore Music Theatre will be able to continue to provide vital arts education programs to thousands of children in our community. We are building an important connection and we look forward to working with Beverly Hospital in this new capacity."
"We are very excited about this partnership with North Shore Music Theatre," said Chip Payson, vice president of external affairs for Beverly Hospital. "The Horizons Program will help enrich the lives of both the seniors and the youth of the North Shore whom we are dedicated to serving through our high quality healthcare services. This partnership is a great way to join together two non profits with a unified goal of improving the communities of the North Shore."
To further enhance the theatrical experience for the community’s youth, Beverly Hospital will also sponsor NSMT’s highly regarded musical production of A Christmas Carol which attracts nearly 20,000
students from 300 area schools. Moreover, to kick off their
partnership, Beverly Hospital has been named the presenting sponsor of North Shore Music Theatre’s 2007 Soiree Gala Celebration to benefit the theater’s education programs which reach over 90,000 students annually.
